1. Heartburn relief
Heartburn, also called acid reflux, causes that burning sensation that rises from the stomach up towards the throat. It can be triggered by stress, alcohol, fatty meals, spicy foods, large portions, or eating late. Because baking soda is alkaline, it can neutralise some of the stomach acid and often brings quick relief for mild, occasional symptoms. A common home approach is to dissolve one teaspoon in a glass of cold water and sip it slowly.
Important note, this is for occasional discomfort, not frequent reflux. Persistent heartburn can signal a condition that needs proper assessment.
